plague and remake

Sunday: up all night because of a dull pain in my abdomen
Monday: rushed to the doctors then the emergency room because the pain became unbearable.
Tuesday: home all day with pneumonia, on bedrest orders from doctor.
Wednesday: ^repeat
Thursday:^repeat
Friday:^repeat
Saturday:^repeat

My food has mosty been jello, pudding, and the occasional salad.

My days have been filled with sleep, movies and the above mentioned jello and pudding.

I news printed my nails! I had really wanted to use comic books but they don't work.

This is two of my four needle entries on my left arm. I was stabbed....a lot. *sigh*

I took up knitted again and had an Indiana Jones marathon.

part two of my marathon, not my favorite of the trilogy (yes, I call Indiana Jones a trilogy, there are only THREE movies *cough*)

I've had SO much tea that it probably has replaced blood in my veins.

I took a break from Indy but I couldn't give up Harrison Ford so I watched Sabrina.

Lastly but certainly not least, I've spent some much needed time in the Word. :)

Also! Blog redesign!  I'm desprately hoping that the re-design will inspire me to write here more.
(who am I kidding, probably not...but...it's worth a shot!!)

Instagr.am the World

I do, to a point, agree with that statement. But, I also think that that we should acknowledge that advancements in technology and start to embrace different ways of doing things.

I'm addicted to Instagram.

But why? Well, one I can incessantly post pictures and it's accepted. ;P
But secondly, because it's easy and accessible.
Even though I'm a photographer, I don't always want to lug around my chunky DSLR, but it's easy to whip out your phone.

The argument used to be "well, cell phone pictures are always crappy". Not the case anymore, with cell phone picture quality getting better, chances are that you can actually take a good picture.

I love being able to take unique pictures of the most everyday things easily.

It made me think about how much I want to travel and photograph the world.
UGH.  (exasperated sigh)

I seriously want to look into going on a missions trip. Last time I went on one I was 13 and I went to Honduras. That was when my photography bug had just hit, but I pretty much just took snapshots of flowers and such.
It sounds kind of selfish looking back on this post to say "oh, let's go on a mission's trip so I can take pictures". Well, no I just would love to use my "skill" (meager as it is) as a photographer to document the world and to make connections with people.

As Americans we're...well, a little narcissistic. We're really quite used to getting our picture taken....but a lot of people, especially in third world countries, don't often get their picture taken.
Often simple joy can result from the smallest acts, like chatting with somebody you just met, getting to know them enough to take their picture then see their eyes light up when you show it to them.

I don't know. I just think I'd like that. :)

Sorry for not posting more....hopefully I shall change that this fall. For now though, I'm going to get some sleep.

rocketeer

let's flyyy, where we go we don't need a road, where stop oh nobody knows

I love it when people cover songs, because sometimes the original gets old and boring and it's refreshing to hear a new take on a song.

Finals are over! Annnnd, I can deal with a 3.7GPA. Not too bad for being gone an entire week before finals, and not always "putting my heart" into my projects. heh. I've left my over-achieving, home-schooled-self back in high school. ;)

This past Saturday I was third shooter (yeah, there were three of us), for my first "real/big" wedding.  It was an experience, and solidified my belief that I do not want to be a wedding photographer.

Note : all photos were shot for Kester Imagery. Check out their work, it was a pleasure / honor to work with them!

Beautiful bride Sarah and husband Matt!

Yes, I befriended the dog.

such a fun lil' crowd

cupcakes! AMAZING homemade cupcakes, I might add.

gorgeous downtown "warehouse" venue, at sunset the light filtered in through the windows and hit the tables and flowers.

No man can walk out on his own story.
Sometimes I fear that my life isn't going the way it "should" or something. Which is ridiculous, I know. God knows all, I cannot walk out of His will, I cannot walk out of my own story.
(Yes, this is a quote from Rango)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lastly, something unexpected happened. I took a friend's senior pictures, and she went to get them printed at Wal-Mart and they refused to give them to her after they were printed because they looked too professional and they were afraid of breaking copyrights. So, she contacted me and I had to sign a "Copyright Ownership Indemnification Agreement". (dun dun dunnn) Anyway, she shouldn't have a problem now since I've "released" the photos to be printed.

I obviously know about photo copyrights and stuff, but this surprised me. I mean, from a photographer's standpoint it makes sense, and really I should be thankful for it. But, from just a friend's standpoint, I'm like "Psh!! Whatever".

Although I must admit, I'm a little bit proud they thought that looked so professional that they couldn't give them out. ;P
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright, that's all for now folks! Another certain friend is bugging me to get this post finished, so I thought I might as well wrap things up.  :P

don't lose your muchness

I'm investigating things that begin with the letter M.

I try to believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
(tripod + running = sun beam in my face)

Why is the raven like a writing desk?

Who's to say what is "proper"? What if it was agreed that "proper" was wearing a codfish on your head? Would you wear it?

Precisely. Gentlemen, the only way to achieve the impossible, is to believe it's possible.

Of course. Anyone can go by horse or rail, but the absolute best way to travel is by hat. Have I made a rhyme?

There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger!

no makeup + nerd glasses

photo blog update!

Even though I'm pretty sure ya'll know already, in case anybody doesn't, here's a link to my photography page on facebook!  Red Photo

It was Sunday and I just didn't feel like wearing makeup. Oh, what a wonderful day it was, in my own skin!

Pretending to be all intellectual with my dad's glasses.

Yes, I'm such a nerd. :-)
(oh, and I was also super excited to be using a friend's Speedlite 430EX....yaaay for flashes)

hamlet, anyone?

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;

I [heart] faces entry

I decided to enter a photo contest! (whee!) Haha, this definitely isn't my best work and I really don't even like this picture all that much (nothing against you the model, dear Cassie!) but the photo challenge was on "wind" and this is the only thing I had lying around.

baking adventure

I love to cook, but admittedly I'm not much of a baker.
(although, I've always wanted to be)

For a "ladies tea" at our church tomorrow, I had to make some sort tea accompaniment.

I chose scones.  Yet, I don't usually like scones.

So, why scones? Well, because I've always read about them in the Redwall books and I wanted to feel British by making and eating them.  (heehee)

photo documentation of my experience. (cell phones are uber handy!)

Handy-dandy recipe found online

Getting all the ingredients together so I feel as if I'm on a tv show.

flouuuuuuur! (and sugar and salt...)

yeah, so I skipped a few steps photo-wise and went straight to them cut out and laid on the sheet.

halfway baked! I also discovered that our oven glass is too dirty to take pictures through. :P

TA-DA!

They taste fantastic, if I do say so myself.
In fact, I don't even have to say it. My dad (an incredible chef who's been all around the world) loved them...and that's saying something. =]
