hamlet, anyone?

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;

fashion / inspiration

I like to pretend that I'm fashionable...but then I see pictures, and realize that I'm so far from it sometimes.

(all pictures are from Scott Schuman's blog The Sartorialist)

Ahh! Navy + striped skirt! <3

I don't think I'm tall or skinny enough to pull off long skirts like this...but I like them.

To all my guy friends: dress like this and you will be awesome.

excuse me, but I think I'm going to start wearing heels a lot more.

Now, I'm going to go raid my closet and drawers and attempt to pull outfits together.

boom

I feel like I've been hit by a train, then tossed to a giant cat who has been batting me back and forth for the past 18 hours.
giant cat...see? awful.

I'm downing gallons of tea, EmergenC, while feeling all shaky with a swollen throat and temperature of 100.

sigh

life

Vague title, right? Well, this is going to be a vague post.

I've been praying a lot lately....a LOT. With life, we're always in constant need of prayer but right now I seem to need it even more.

I thought something that was part of my life was gone, and was meant to be...but, I'm realizing that maybe it's not. I have so much that I need to pray and ask God about. But...I also need to get out of the boat.
We always talk about how Peter failed at walking on water, but we have to remember that he at least got OUT of the boat.

That was his first step.
Now, I must step out too.

No matter what happens...God is sovereign.

 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
   neither are your ways my ways,”
            declares the LORD.
 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
   so are my ways higher than your ways
   and my thoughts than your thoughts.   Isaiah 55:8-9

I [heart] faces entry

I decided to enter a photo contest! (whee!) Haha, this definitely isn't my best work and I really don't even like this picture all that much (nothing against you the model, dear Cassie!) but the photo challenge was on "wind" and this is the only thing I had lying around.

baking adventure

I love to cook, but admittedly I'm not much of a baker.
(although, I've always wanted to be)

For a "ladies tea" at our church tomorrow, I had to make some sort tea accompaniment.

I chose scones.  Yet, I don't usually like scones.

So, why scones? Well, because I've always read about them in the Redwall books and I wanted to feel British by making and eating them.  (heehee)

photo documentation of my experience. (cell phones are uber handy!)

Handy-dandy recipe found online

Getting all the ingredients together so I feel as if I'm on a tv show.

flouuuuuuur! (and sugar and salt...)

yeah, so I skipped a few steps photo-wise and went straight to them cut out and laid on the sheet.

 halfway baked! I also discovered that our oven glass is too dirty to take pictures through. :P

TA-DA!

They taste fantastic, if I do say so myself.
In fact, I don't even have to say it. My dad (an incredible chef who's been all around the world) loved them...and that's saying something. =]

where sky and water meet

First off, what a beeyootiful (lol, yikes...) day! We opened up all our windows and had an incredible breeze flowing all day.  Of course, we then had to rush around and fasten down loose papers that were blown about.

I succumbed to the cheesy 'words on your photo' thing, but thankfully they don't look "picnik'd" (heaven forbid!)- so I don't think they're THAT awful. :) I've been in a 'quotey' mood today.

(we're watching Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I enjoy the movie....so, let's not make this about personal opinions on how much you hate the movie version (you know who you are). heh.)

(...darn, I didn't change the color mode so it all looks dull and not as bright when uploaded to the web. Blah)

I really need to do that more; look for the good in people.  I'm a very cynical person when it comes to that sort of thing. And recently I've just wanted to generally throw things a people. (hehhh)
Add that to the list of character traits (well..flaws) I need to work on.
